The Kings of the Hill own Voyager, her crew and all things Trek.
PG-13
KJ and I have long since agreed to disagree on a few things; one of them is Kashyk. This is the only way I see KJ's story "Between Lust and Love" ending. If you haven't read it, you won't understand this.

Chakotay looked at Kathryn as she exited the ready room. She met his eyes and he knew. If she had done this to save the refugees or the ship, he might have understood even if he would have tried to stop her, but she hadn't. She had gone to Kashyk after she had won, after everyone was safe. She went because she wanted him.

Chakotay considered his options and made his decision. He loved her and would do his best to work things out with her. She would explain and he would forgive her. For a while they might even manage to restore their personal and professional lives to what they had been before she met Kashyk. On the surface, everything would appear normal but over time, what had once been their love would wither and die.

It was funny that it ended this way. Their relationship had been turbulent and filled with many emotional battles over the years. Chakotay had thought if their love died or they were torn apart by conflict, it would be in a violent explosion of emotion. Never had he thought it would end in a whimper.

For now, Chakotay would hide from her his knowledge that what they had shared was dead. He would try to shield from her as long as possible the fact that she was the agent of its demise.

Chakotay masked the emotions he felt and smiled at Kathryn. For a little while at least, she would be spared all the consequences of her decision. In the end, he would let her blame him when she finally recognized what had happened.

The Hollow Men
T. S. Elliot (1925)
(excerpt)

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
